comScore is out with new data from its MobiLens and Mobile Metrix services , which report key trends in the U.S. smartphone industry.
In this instance, the data is derived from March 2015.
According to comScore’s figures, Apple was the top smartphone manufacturer with 42.6 percent OEM market share in March.
Android was once again the #1 smartphone platform with 52.4 percent platform market share.
But while we already know that iOS and Android are the top smartphone platforms in the U.S., the real story worth following with each new comScore data update is the growth itself of the U.S. smartphone market.
As of the end of March 2015, 187.5 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones. That put mobile market penetration at 77% and inching closer to the next major threshold of 80%.
