According to a new report published by eMarketer, branded video ad views soared throughout the previous eighteen months.
The data in question, taken from video analytics platform Visible Measures, confirms almost 1.1 billion views of branded videos in Q3 of 2012. In the fourth quarter, the number rose to 1.78 billion.
Although user-initiated views of branded video ads fell slightly as 2013 progressed, most industry analysts expect a hearty spike in 2014.
The industry category drawing the most branded video ad views last year was electronics, which surpassed mobile phones by nearly 100 million, clocking in at 316.9 million views in Q3 of 2013.
Also in Q3, the number one advertising campaign was produced by Apple for its iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. Samsung’s campaign for its Galaxy S4 ranked fifth among campaigns with the overall highest number of video ad views for the quarter.
eMarketer estimates that in 2014, companies will spend nearly $5.80 billion in the U.S. on branded video campaigns for mobile and desktop viewing.
